Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer (Amplified Version)
von Fettweis, Yvonne Caché and Robert Townsend Warneck. Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer (Amplified Version). Boston: The Christian Science Publishing Society, 2009.
“This biography which focuses on Mary Baker Eddy as a Christian healer, offers the first comprehensive record of her healing works and shows how essential her own practice of Christian healing was to her…” (9). The project of compiling every reference to her healing work began in 1992 with the historical collections of The Mother Church. This amplified version consists of two parts and two significant appendices. Part 1 covers a biographical account of Eddy’s life with examples of her healing works and editorial comments. Part 2 includes additional healing accounts quoted directly from original sources. One appendix includes sketches of individuals who have provided source material for the accounts of Eddy’s healing works. Also included are two sections on Eddy’s advice for healers. The book includes a significant index with a list of names of individuals cured, and another list of types of healings, either in general or diagnosed terms. Eddy is quoted: “My experience of the effects of faith was no miracle and nothing impossible to all who have that faith which is followed by spiritual understanding and is equal to avail itself of Christ’s promise, not to a select number, but to all who exercise it” (11, quoting A10234b).
